The UK has some beautiful butterflies, but sadly, although most are still commonly seen, some species are dramatically dropping in numbers. We must be mindful of their habitat requirements and the types of flowers we grow in the garden sticking to single-flowering species rather than the double-flowering hybrids that offer little benefit to pollinators. Listed here are the most common butterflies that visit our gardens.
