About

The Eurasian blue tit or simply blue tit is a small bird species commonly found across the UK. These birds are easily recognisable due to their bright blue crown and wings, yellow underparts, and white cheeks. Blue tits are a common sight in gardens, woodlands, and parks. They have a varied diet which includes insects, seeds, fruit, and even small spiders. Blue tits, known for their acrobatic behaviour can effortlessly cling to branches and hang upside down to reach food sources. Despite being one of the smallest bird species in the UK, they have a loud and distinctive call that is sure to catch your attention!

Juvenile blue tit

Juvenile blue tits are typically distinguishable from adult blue tits by their slightly duller colours and shorter tail feathers. They have a similar blue and yellow colouring, but it is not as vibrant as the adult blue tits. Juvenile blue tits will stay with their parents for up to three weeks after leaving the nest. In this time they will continue to learn life skills such as foraging.
