The Chaffinch is a small bird that’s easily recognisable by its vibrant plumage. Males have striking pink-red breasts and cheeks, with blue-grey crowns and blackish-brown wings and tails. Females are brownish-grey with subtle pink tinges on their chests. Known for their melodious chirping, chaffinches can be heard throughout the spring and summer months. Found in various habitats including woodlands, gardens, parks, and hedgerows. Chaffinches enjoy a varied diet of seeds, insects, fruits, and berries – making them adaptable to different habitats. These endearing bird are often seen flitting about in treetops or perched on feeding stations.
