About

The Nuthatch is a charming little bird that can be found throughout the United Kingdom. With its striking blue-grey feathers and distinct black stripe on its eyes, this bird is hard to miss. The Nuthatch is the only UK bird that climbs head-first down trees using its powerful legs and sharp claws. Equipped with a strong bill, they use it to wedge nuts into crevices to break them open for eating. Nuthatches rarely travel far from the area in which they were hatched. These birds have a distinct clean and crisp sound due to their high-pitched whistles and trills in their calls as they sing amongst the canopy tops of deciduous woodland trees.
