The Silver Y, a moth of medium size, is often seen on warm days throughout the year, but more common during the late summer. This migratory species is often seen in grasslands and gardens. this moth can be seen flying both daytime and nighttime and regularly visits Buddleia and Lavender. The Silver Y’s caterpillars, have a diverse palate, feasting on an array of plants including stinging nettles and clover. While it does breed in the UK, the early stages of this moth are unable to withstand the harshness of our winters.
