The speckled wood butterfly can be seen flying from the end of March until October. This butterfly is quite common and can be found along woodland edges, rides, hedgerows, and gardens as it flutters around in the dappled sunlight. The adult speckled wood butterfly feeds on honeydew, while the caterpillars feed on a variety of grasses.
